The official website of the writer and visual artist Layal Shorbtli
Layal Mohammad Tabbakh—known by her pen name Layal Shorbtli—is a Syrian-born writer and visual artist based in Saudi Arabia. She writes for women and paints them. She studied Economics in Spain and Psychology in Lebanon, and what she learned about the world is reflected in her prose and paintings: a balance between mind and heart, between idea and feeling. She believes that literature and art are instruments of awareness and change—a space where women are seen, heard, and respected. That’s why she chose to let color blend with words: her book Hawa became a sincere milestone in voicing women with tender candor, and her exhibitions mirror her contemporary feminine vision. Her mission is to open a window for every woman to define herself—without fear or apology. She writes to accompany you on your journey: when you hesitate, when you choose, and when you finally smile because you have become yourself.
